poppy flower fairy

I have always adored Cicely Mary Barker’s charming flower fairies; this fairy illustration, Poppy, was first published in 1925 in the book “Flower Fairies of the Summer.” These fairies remind me of many childhood hours spent in the garden making little tiny mud cakes decorated with leaves and blossoms to serve to the fairies at my tea parties. I truly believed there were magical beings hiding among the blossoms.
The flip side of this necklace contains a bit of vintage advertising ephemera – I just liked the colors – it is a rather abstract image. A soft orange, swirly Czech glass bead ends everything and looks great no matter which side you choose to wear facing out.
I try my best to get good photos but this bead looks darker and more vibrant in the photo than it actually is – to my eye, it is softer looking – a bit like a translucent creamsicle. Yum.
The pendant is 1 1/8” wide X 2 3/8” tall from the top of the rings to the bottom of the bead.
The rings and wires are sterling siver and the bead is Czech glass.
