Upright or recumbent – who wins?

The recumbent (or “velocar” as this bike was named) was by far faster than the upright bicycles in the historic race featured in this pendant. That’s Francis (or Francois depending on who you ask) Faure piloting the velocar in 1933.

The flip side encases a snippet from a vintage (truly old) dictionary. The definition of recumbent is overlaid with a vellum print of an early recumbent patent drawing.

The pendant measure 1 5/8” wide X 2 1/8” tall from the top of the rings to the tip of the bead drop.

All rings and wire on this pendant are sterling silver and it is complemented by a deep blue faceted Czech glass bead.

The pendant may be purchased by itself or with a silverplated ball chain – see the pull-down menu when you are adding it to your cart.

The chain can be shortened with wire cutters or old scissors – if you want a different length, just let me know and I’ll make it happen.
